Alan Ayling (FCCA)

Our accounting partner and a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant.

Alan spent his formative years working under the partners at Wilfred Green, a long established, and very well respected, local firm. Here he learned his trade and work ethic, passing his professional exams in 2005. After Wilfred Green was taken over by a large national firm, Alan was given a management position and put forward to be fast tracked to becoming a partner.

Ultimately, Alan decided that the big company set-up was not for him and elected to move into industry. This he did, in addition to devoting time to bringing up his young family and running a small accountancy business on the side. However, big business intervened again and his employers were taken over by a much larger firm leaving Alan, once again, to look at alternative options. Having already established that the impersonal, big firm approach was not his cup of tea, he elected to join Mark at Ency, reuniting many old faces from the Wilfred Green days.

Mark Osborne

Mark is our tax partner and has over 30 years experience in the field of owner managed businesses, and the associated personal and corporate tax work. He also has a significant working knowledge of accounts.

Mark started out as an accounts junior in 1987. Mark then moved to Wilfred Green in early 1989 and progressed through the ranks to become their tax manager, until they were taken over by a large national firm in April 2004. It quickly became apparent, much as it did with Alan, that the big firm mentality was not for him. Having come from a smaller, more friendly firm he wanted to return to something similar. With this in mind, Mark formed Ency in the October of 2004.

Mark is well versed in advising business start-ups and has a wealth of knowledge in numerous trading sectors.
