Alan Ayling (FCCA)

Alan Ayling Our accounting partner, fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and Registered Auditor.
Alan spent his formative years working under the partners at Wilfred Green, a long established and very well respected local firm. Here he learned his trade and incredible work ethic, passing his professional exams in 2005. After Wilfred Green was taken over by Menzies, a large national firm, Alan was given a management position and put forward to be fast tracked to becoming a partner.

However, Alan decided that the big company set-up was not for him and elected to move into industry, working for Labyrinth Properties, a smaller, more personable company. This he did in addition to devoting time to bringing up his young family and running a small accountancy business. However, big business intervened again and Labyrinth were taken over by a large multi-national, leaving Alan, once again, to look at alternative options. Having already established that the impersonal, big firm approach was not his cup of tea, he elected to merge his existing small business with Wheeler and Associates, another local firm.

In early 2010 Wheelers merged with Ency, retaining the Ency name, and reuniting many old faces from Alan’s Wilfred Green days.

Mark Osborne

Mark OsborneMark is our tax partner and has 25 years experience in the field of owner managed businesses, and the associated personal and corporate tax work. He also has a significant working knowledge of accounts.

Starting out as an accounts junior, in 1987, Mark moved to Wilfred Green, in early 1989, progressing through the ranks to become their tax manager, until they were taken over by Menzies in April of 2004. It quickly became apparent, much as it did with Alan, that the big firm mentality was not for him. Having come from a smaller, more friendly firm, like Wilfred Green, he wanted to return to something similar. With this in mind Mark formed Ency Associates, together with a friend who was a qualified accountant, in October of 2004, leaving Menzies soon after he had started. Since the business was formed Mark has assisted countless clients and formed many lasting bonds with them, many of whom he now also counts as friends.

Mark is well versed in advising business start-ups and has a wealth of knowledge in numerous trading sectors.
